INDX 8-Tool Conversion Kit for CORE One/+

Bondtech INDX for CORE One+

Eight nozzles. True multi‑material. Virtually zero waste.

The INDX is an extremely fast, highly efficient toolchanger system with up to eight independent toolheads that seamlessly integrates with your CORE One+ 3D printer. Each material gets its own dedicated path, so you can combine rigid and flexible parts, use easy-to-remove or dissolvable supports, switch nozzle sizes in the same print, and print multi-color models without throwing half of the spool to waste.

Real Performance Metric

True Toolchange Time: ~12 seconds per change

We measure tool change time from the last extrusion on one material to the first extrusion on the next, on the model itself. This avoids inflated and misleading numbers based on partial steps. The ~12 seconds per change for PLA is the time between when one nozzle leaves the printed part until the second nozzle starts printing.

The INDX conversion kit doesn't have the same bed-mounted calibration pin as the Prusa XL. Instead, there is a new toolhead offset calibration system, permanently mounted outside the print area. - Dual-Target Precision: Uses a secondary target to actively cancel background noise, ensuring highly precise sensor readings in any environment. - 20x Faster: Calibration takes just 15 seconds per toolhead - down from hundreds of seconds on the stock XL. - Improved Repeatability: Streamlines setup while delivering highly consistent results.

Questions & Answers

Does the INDX work with my existing CORE One (without the plus upgrade)?

Yes, you will end up with CORE One+ with INDX. The INDX was co-developed with Prusa specifically for the CORE One architecture. It is not compatible with MK4S, MK3S+, or other printers.

Should I get the 4-tool or 8-tool kit?

Start with the 4-tool kit if you want to try multi-material without committing to the full 8. You can add individual passive tools later. The 8-tool kit gives the best per-tool value and you can print truly complex objects right from the start.

How much build volume do I lose?

About 15 mm in the Y-axis and 2mm in X-axis due to the docking station and purge collector additions. On the CORE One+ (250 × 220 × 270 mm base volume), the total build volume with the INDX mounted is 248×205×270 mm.

Does it work with third-party filament?

Any 1.75 mm filament from any manufacturer. No RFID, no proprietary spools, no vendor lock-in. Use Prusament, third-party brands, or whatever you have on the shelf. Hardened nozzles come standard, so abrasive filaments (carbon fiber, glass fiber) work from day one.

How does this compare to the Prusa XL toolchanger?

The XL is our large-format toolchanger with a 360 x 360 x 360 mm build volume. If you need big parts, fast swaps, or upcoming specialty toolheads (silicone printing, pick-and-place for embedded inserts), the XL is the right machine. The INDX on a CORE One+ gives you a smaller footprint (248 x 205 x 270 mm effective), more tools (8 vs 5), an enclosed chamber with elevated temperature (55°C), and a significantly lower total price. Think of it this way: the XL is for people who need the build volume and a full-scale active toolchanger. The INDX is for people who want the most material flexibility in a compact, enclosed format. Both are toolchangers with negligible purge waste. They just serve different use cases.

Does the INDX work with CORE One L?

The dedicated kit for the CORE One L is coming at a later point. The CORE One+ version is not compatible with the L

Is there a fully-assembled pre-installed version?

We will offer at a later time - a 3D printer with the INDX already installed.

How does the nozzle calibration work?

We initially used the automatic nozzle calibration system from the Prusa XL. It relies on a metal pin mounted in the middle of the print bed which each nozzle taps from various sides.Newly, the INDX conversion kit includes a brand new toolhead offset calibration system, which is permanently mounted outside the print area. And if you are wondering why there are two targets, one is always reading the background noise to get extremely precise readings from the main sensor in any environment. The result is an easier and faster setup with improved repeatability.
